Martha Dale

Martha Williams Dale, former long-time resident of Fayetteville, passed away at Conway Regional Hospital on Wednesday, Nov. 24. She had lived in Conway since 2007. Martha was born April 9, 1920, in Ashdown. She was the daughter of James Harrison Williams and Margaret Patterson Williams. She is survived by her husband, James Lowell Dale of Conway; one son, James L. Dale Jr. and wife Susan Everly Dale of Conway; granddaughters Danielle Dale of Kenner, La.; and Megan Dale of Perth, Australia. Other survivors are sisters Ruth Carlisle of Taylors, S.C.; Frances York of Ashdown; and Natalie Clark of Asheville, N.C. She was preceded in death by parents James H. Williams and Margaret P. Williams of Ashdown; sister Elizabeth Tyler of Ashdown; and brother James H. Williams Jr. of Hot Springs. Martha's family and friends considered her a very tender and loving person. During World War II she contributed to the war effort by working at Curtiss-Wright aircraft plant in Columbus, Ohio. Martha performed volunteer work as a Grey Lady at the VA hospital in Fayetteville for over 25 years, and also worked during blood drives. She volunteered at the polls and in her church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice. A memorial service will be announced at a future date under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville, Ark.
