Richard Shilling

Richard Shilling, 65, of Russellville, Ark., died Thursday, September 30, 2010 as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 40, near Conway. The son of Diral and Beulah Gray Shilling, he was born January 30, 1945 in Wright, Arkansas. He was a 1962 graduate of England High School. After graduating, Richard served in the United States Navy Seabees in Vietnam. He and Sharon Watson were married on September 3, 1965 at the Toltec Baptist Church. Richard earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Richard and Sharon were the co-owners of Outdoor Living Center in Russellville which they founded in 1976. He attended Victory Missionary Baptist Church. Richard's family described him as passionate about spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Lorene Crowder and Sybil Sisk. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Shilling of Russellville; a son & daughter-in-law, Richie Shilling and wife Carrie of Russellville; a daughter, Michelle Shilling of Malibu, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Madison, Kyrston, Mackenzie, Garron, Marley, Dylan and Watson; three brothers, Ray Shilling of Fresno, Calif., Perry Shilling of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Ralph Shilling of Springdale; two sisters, Barbara Cooper of Norman, Okla., and Becky Hart of Inyokern, Calif. Funeral will be at 10 a.m., Monday, October 4, 2010 at Humphrey Chapel. Dr. Stephen Davis and Gaylon Gibbs will officiate. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville, by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., on Sunday, at the funeral home.
