Lt. Colonel Earl James "Sam" Bass (Retired Air Force) 89, of Marvell, Ark. died Sept. 30, 2010. He is survived by his "wonderful wife," Clara; a sister, Virginia Bourke of Boise, Idaho; a brother, Calvin Bass of Longview, Texas; three daughters, Karen and Ron Demmin of Cobden, Ill., Betty and John Armstrong of Pecos Texas, Ruth and Bernard Burgess of Bee Branch, Ark.; ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Norah Bass; two sisters, Major Pauline Lucas and Lucille Bass; a brother, Sgt. Carl Bass; and two children, Earl James Bass Jr. and Kathleen Seavey Stephenson. Visitation: Bob Neal Funeral Home, Hwy 49, Marvell, Ark., Sunday, Oct. 3, 5 p.m. Funeral services: Marvell United Methodist Church, Hwy 49, 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 4, followed by burial with full military honors at Eventide Cemetery, Marvell.
