Patrick "Pat" Wayne Smith, 61, of Conway, Ark., passed from this life Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010. Many knew him as Pat Smith, but a few called him "Mr. Pat" and "Coach"; he loved fly fishing, fly tying, golf, and spending time with his family. Pat was born April 27, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Peter Belokur and Patricia Swenson. Pat was retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 32 years of service, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Conway, Ark. Pat was preceded in death by his stepfather, Herbert Smith; and brother, Steven Smith. Pat is survived by his wife of 41 years Ginger Smith of the home; son, Michael Smith and wife Marnie of Burleson, Texas; daughter, Samantha Smith and fiancé Josh Clayton of Conway, Ark.; four grandchildren, Hannah Smith, Madison Smith, Hunter Smith and Carter Clayton; two sisters, Cindy Bradley and husband Jack of Natalia, Texas, Angela Koehler and husband Jimmy of Natalia, Texas; two brothers, Sam Smith and wife Trudy of Natalia, Texas, Jimmy Smith of Tennessee Colony, Texas; mother-in-law, Edna "Gannie" Jackson of Cleburne, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A gathering of remembrance will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, (501) 327-7727. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Cleburne, Texas, with burial in Cleburne Memorial Park.
