Phillip Charles Gates

Phillip Charles Gates, 75, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Baptist Springhill Hospital in North Little Rock. He was born August 18, 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Leo G. and Hazel M. Duffey Gates. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Williamson and Jean Puls. TSgt. Gates retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 proud years of service. He was a business owner in Jacksonville and later worked in appliance sales and service. He is survived by his wife Jeanette, of 48 loving years' together; daughter, Catherine Singleton; son, David Gates (Andrea), and sister, Merrill Anderson (Richard). His greatest joy in life was spending time with his beloved wife and seven grandchildren, Williams Tyler (Meghan), Jennifer, Jessica, Rachel Singleton and Chelsea, Brandon, Ethan Gates and great-grandson, Ryan Singleton. Phil will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. His sense of humor and kind spirit touched so many lives. The family would like to thank the wonderful devoted staff at Baptist Springhill Hospital. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2010 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little; Rock. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
