James J. Riley, 67, of Jacksonville was born April 17th, 1943 in McCook, Nebraska to the late James and Emma Zwickl Riley and passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010. Mr. Riley was an outgoing and fun loving person who never met a stranger, he was raised in Herndon, Kansas and he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and toured in Vietnam, some of his favorite pastimes included golfing and bartending at the VFW. He was employed at Verizon Arena for the past nine years; he was also a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Jacksonville, the Knights of Columbus and the VFW. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mrs. Mary Sue Worthen Riley of Jacksonville and his two sons, James Richard Riley and his wife Lauri of Jacksonville and Gregory Michael of Little Rock. Memorials may be made in his honor to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. for visitation with a rosary following at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 7th, 2010 at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Jacksonville. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude's on Friday, October 8th, 2010 at 10 a.m. A private burial will follow at a later date.
