Burl Dean Cooper, 82, of Malvern passed away Friday, Oct. 8, at HSC Medical Center. He was born July 30, 1928, in Rolla, Ark., to the late Duke Albert and Ruby (Ford) Cooper. He graduated from Leola High School in 1946. Burl worked for 30 years for Natural Gas Pipeline, was a 50 year member of Bethlehem Lodge No. 338, a 32nd degree Mason and was awarded the Pillars of Solomon Award by the Grand Lodge of Arkansas. He taught the Men's Sunday School Class for 30 years at Leola United Methodist and most recently was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church. Burl was the founder of the Cooper Hunting Club, served on the museum board, Justice of the Peace for Tennessee Township and was a 30 year member of the quorum court, all in Grant County. Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Ethel Tewanee Cooper; daughter, Sara Marie Haley of Greenbrier; sons, Burl Edward Cooper (wife, Tammy) of Zeffner, Fla., and Timothy Elliott Cooper of North Little Rock; sister, Reba Shepard of Malvern; one grandson; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is Sunday, Oct. 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Regency Funeral Home in Malvern. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 11, in the Regency Chapel with Reverend Dale Diffee officiating. He will have full Masonic Rites with his Masonic Brothers serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Men of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial is at Lono Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Keith Memorial United Methodist Church, 513 Fairview, Malvern, Ark. 72104. Arrangements are by Regency Funeral Home.
