Patsy (Patti) Goodwin Burnett, age 81, of Maumelle, Arkansas, formerly of West Memphis, Arkansas left this world to begin a new journey on October 11, 2010. She was born on March 29, 1929 of Guy and Edna Maxey Goodwin in Marshall, Texas. Patsy graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in 1948 and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1950. In November of 1951 Patti married her husband of 55 years, John Donald Burnett of Wynne, Arkansas, and began her life in West Memphis. She leaves two daughters, Dr. Pattie Susan Burnett of Little Rock and Donna Freyaldenhoven and her husband, Chris of Meridian, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Hallie Freyaldenhoven, Andrew Freyaldenhoven, Margaret Freyaldenhoven all of Meridian, Mississippi, and Jonathan Burnett Harrell of Little Rock. She was so proud of all their accomplishments. She was preceded in death by her husband; and one brother, Guy Bayless Goodwin, Jr. For several years Patti worked with the City of West Memphis on a beautification program. Patti had a true passion for travel and history and obtained a Masters in History from University of Memphis later in life. She traveled extensively taking adults and youth on yearly study tours throughout Europe and the world. Just give her a second and she was off to somewhere new. In the 1980's Patti was a Docent for Ramesses the Great and other historical exhibits in Memphis. Patti was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Memphis, and avid needle crafter, and used her talents to help needlepoint the kneeling cushions for the communion railing at the church. Recently several "Sewing Club" girls even helped celebrate her 80th birthday in Little Rock. Many thanks from the family go to all the compassionate caregivers at the Baptist Medical System and to the staff at Stonehaven Assisted Living Facility in Maumelle. Your care and concern for Patsy was so appreciated. No visitation will be held. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2010 at Cogbill Cemetery in Wynne, Arkansas, where she will once again join Don. HEAVEN HELP HIM.
