Raymond "Pete" Bain

Raymond "Pete" Bain, 78, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Southern Hills Nursing Center in Rison. Born March 30, 1932, in Hardin, he was a son of William S. and Elphia Shockey Bain. Mr. Bain was reared and educated in Dollarway and Pine Bluff, atttending Pine Bluff High School. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Jacob Raymond Bain married Betty Joyce Garner on July 31, 1958, in Hardin. Mr. Bain worked for twenty-five years as a service technician for Central Maloney. He worked six years in the same occupation at Process and Power in Little Rock and six years for Carrie's Business Equipment in Sherwood. He was a member of the Hardin Pentecostal Church. Mr. Bain was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Valissa Bain Mahan, four sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty Bain of Pine Bluff; one son, Ray Bain of Pine Bluff; one daughter, Vanessa Bain-Watkins of Pine Bluff; three sisters, Lottie Calhoun, Naomi Bain, and Melva Jean Brown all of Renton, Washington; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2010, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend James Watson officiating.
