Brenda Kay Fontenot

Brenda Kay Fontenot, born July 11, 1950 in Griffithville, Arkansas to Oscar and Emogene Johnson Franks, went home to be with the Lord October 19, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 12 years Larry Fontenot, four children, Bradley Franks and Donya Mitchell Catching of Laporte, Texas, Donald Ray (Tammy) Mitchell and their son, Landon, Jackie (Karen) Leistikow and their son, Carl Cole, all of Jacksonville, and a special friend, Zettie Eltrich. Also surviving, four sisters, Betty Ruth Pettypool of Griffithville, Margie Sellers of Newport, Virginia Mitchell of Austin and Linda (John) Peterson of Blytheville, two brothers, Lloyd (Earline) Franks of Alabama and Kenneth (Lanelle) Franks of Buna, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Joey Leistikow, two grandchildren, Daniel and Samantha McCool, brothers, Roy Lee Franks, Carl Owen Franks, and Gerald Franks, and sister Patsy West. Brenda graduated from Des Arc Hich School in May 1968. She played Jr. and Sr. High basketball and was a member of the Eagles Track Team. She enjoyed doing anything that was outdoors. After moving to Texas in the early 80's, she worked various construction jobs. She said she preferred that to sitting behind a desk or any type of office work.
