Robert T. Thompson, 85, of Camden, Ark. died Tuesday, October 26, 2010. He was born on July 20, 1925 in Willow, Ark., son of Henry and Nevada Thompson. He served two tours of duty in the United States Marine Corp as a tank commander, receiving the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action. He retired from Celotex Corporation.
He is survived by two sons, Mike Thompson and wife, Dayla of Katy, Texas and Richard Gillespie and wife, Debbie of Maumelle, Ark.; two sisters, Vesta Hughes and Julie Lester, three grandchildren, Michael Thompson, Meaghan Thompson and Jason Gillespie and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Thompson; and ten brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Proctor Funeral Home with Phillip Salmon officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
