HELEN CORNELIA BAXTER of North Little Rock, 92, daughter of Louise and Andrew Warner Waldo I, died peacefully with her daughter, Nancy, at her side on Oct. 28 after a long bout with cancer. She will be missed by her many friends in North Little Rock, Grady, and Kansas City. Born in Arkansas on Nov. 20, 1917, Helen graduated from North Little Rock High School and as a young woman was a member and church secretary of First Presbyterian Church in North Little Rock. She worked most of her life in banking, first for Peoples Bank in Little Rock and later for United Missouri Bank in Kansas City, from which she retired. She was married three times, first to Otho R. Baxter, with whom she had two children, a son, Otho Reagan Baxter Jr., who died at age 4, and a daughter, Nancy. Later she married Robert Larm, with whom she moved to Kansas City and built a house in Holt, Mo. After being widowed, she moved back to Arkansas and in 1986 remarried Otho Baxter, with whom she lived in Grady and North Little Rock until his death. Helen was a loving and trusting child of God, blessed with a good sense of humor and an abiding sweetness, greatly loved wherever she went. She loved to travel, go out to lunch with friends, and play Skip-Bo. Helen is survived by her daughter, Nancy Baxter, of Shelter Island, N.Y., and a nephew, Andrew W. Waldo III, of Scott. A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m., and a memorial service for her many friends to share memories and stories of her life will take place at Trinity Fellowship Church, 398 Bear Paw Road, North Little Rock, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6. Arrangements: Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 501-791-7400, www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/owens. Donations to Arkansas Hospice or the American Cancer Society in her name are welcome.
