Claude Erskin Cato

Claude Erskin Cato, 98, of Jacksonville peacefully departed this earth Thursday August 26, 2010. Born Sept. 25, 1911 in Greenbrier, Ark. to George Washington Cato and Ethel Tucker Loveless Cato. This blended family was comprised of eight other siblings; half-brothers Edgar, Chester, and Alvin Cato, Doyle and Charlie Loveless and brothers Emory and Harley (Dobie) Cato and Lydia Cato Wright the only sister. Claude was a carpenter and home builder, a Mason, and a Baptist by faith. Claude was a resident of Worley Place in Jacksonville, a senior citizen facility, where he had made many friends. Claude is survived by his children, Ferrell D. Cato Sr. (Janie) of Conway, Marlis Brown Wheeler (Tom) of Jacksonville, and Michael E. Cato (Paulette) of Spring, Texas also 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and his only living sibling Emory J. Cato (Flora) 95 of Little Rock along with many friends. Claude was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Orilla Price Cato in 1995 and a son, Ronnie Cato who died at birth and one great-grandchild. Visitation for family and friends will be at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, 801 8th Ave. in Conway, Friday, Sept. 3rd from 6-8 p.m. Grave side service only will be at 10 a.m., Saturday the 4th at Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery east of Conway. Officiating will be Rev. Bobby Martin of Spring, Texas and Rev. W. David Moore of Little Rock. Pallbearers will be Claude's grandsons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fish Net Missions, 1700 Swift Dr, Jacksonville, Ark. 72076.
