Mary M. Leighr

Mary M. Leighr, 88, of Bryant, Ark., passed away September 1, 2010. She was born March 2, 1922, in Toronto, Ontario, to the late Wilfred and Mary Downes. After many years of service, Mary retired from Controls Company of America in Schiller Park, IL. She enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband and loved to prepare dinners and desserts for many family gatherings. She was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church. Mary was the center of her family who loved her and will always miss her. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Donald T. Leighr; son, David Leighr and wife Donella of Harrisonville, Mo.; daughter, Carol Leighr of Bryant; sister, Elsie Manchester and sister-in-law, Joan Downes, both of Windsor, Ontario; and five grandchildren, David Ryan, Joshua and Tevye Leighr, Jennifer Williams and Billy Penton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, William Downes. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2010, at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy. 5 North, Alexander (501-455-1067). Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
