CAROL ANN BALMAZ, 73, of Little Rock, passed away on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010. She was born on Sept. 17, 1936 in Morrilton, Ark., a daughter of the late William Alden and Melanie Claire Imboden Scroggin. She attended Hendrix College, then transferred to Oklahoma State University where she graduated with a degree in early childhood education. Carol enthusiastically supported Little League Baseball, YMCA Football, women's softball, an avid Razorback Football fan and she loved the slot machines. She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church, and recently attended with her daughter Little Rock Seventh Day Adventist Church. Carol was a dedicated and loving mother. Her strength, patience, love and independence were not altered by her illnesses or her confinement to a wheelchair. Her love for family, friends and the comfort of pets were the basis of her strength, character and fulfilled her life. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Ketcheside and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Imboden, her parents, and a son, Richard Allen Balmaz. She is survived by daughter, Sherrye Balmaz of Little Rock; sons, Craig Balmaz and Keith Balmaz of Mayflower; grandson, James Reid Balmaz of Pine Bluff; sister, Mary Acott of Conway; brother, Robert Allen Scroggin of Conway; niece, Dr. Alison Acott of Little Rock; nephew, Blake High of Plano, Texas; former husband, father of her children and friend, James R. Balmaz, and his wife, Bettye, of Conway; and beloved granddog, Honeybear. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Burcu Ozdemir, Dr. Melanie Pilcher, Dr. Seth Hollenbach, the staff at Reynolds Senior Health Center, UAMS and her nurses, Gail Miller, Mannie and Maegen. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel (501)224-8300, with Pastor Kenneth Cox officiating. A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at Christ The King Catholic Church, with Monsignor Francis I. Malone as celebrant.
