Stephen Dewayne Davenport, 50, passed away Aug. 25, 2010. Steve was born to Emmitt and Jean Davenport Dec. 27, 1960. Steve was a 911 dispatcher for North Little Rock Communications for 19 years and loved his job. He was also a part time Sheriff's Deputy for Lonoke County Sheriffs office. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Susan Davenport. He is survived by his sister, Brenda Walter of Shreveport, La.; brothers, Butch Davenport of Atlanta, Ga., and Tommy Davenport of Lonoke. Steve had his flaws as we all do, but he would give a stranger the shirt off his back if he could help someone, and he never met a stranger. Instead, a celebration of his life is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Palm Street Church of Christ at the corner of Highway 70 and Palm Street in Lonoke, from 4-7 p.m. This casual gathering is for anyone who knew Steve or wants to express their condolences to the family. A memorial fund has been set up to help take care of Steve's last wishes and can be sent to: The Steve Davenport Memorial Fund, Lonoke Banking Center, P.O. Box 750, Lonoke, Ark. 72086. Arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.
