Roy W. Tilley, 84, of Hot Springs, passed from this life into an eternity with his Lord on Sept. 10, 2010. He was a member of Charity Heights Baptist Church where he served actively for many years as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and church treasurer. He was born March 1, 1926 in Newark, Ark., the son of Alfred James and Essie Tilley. As a member of the United States Navy, Roy served his country in the Pacific during World War II. He was a district superintendent at Entergy upon his retirement after 37 years. Roy Tilley was a charter member of the Master's Builders, volunteering skill and labor for 18 years to churches affiliated with the Baptist Missionary Association of America. He also served his local community on the Board of Directors of the Area Agency on Aging of West Central Arkansas from 2002-2008, where he was Vice-Chairman for four years. Preceding him in death are his parents and two brothers, James and Lloyd. Roy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Audrey Tilley; two sons, Bill Tilley and wife Carol of Little Rock, Roy Lynn Tilley and wife Dorothy of Maumelle; three daughters; Linda Strickland and husband Kenneth of Hattieville, Susie Nix and husband Mike of Oklahoma City, Okla., Judy Swafford and husband Don of Russellville; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Brewer and Dorothy Taylor of Newark, Ark. and several nieces and nephews. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Master's Builders and members of Charity Heights Baptist Church. A special thank you goes to Dr. John Bond, Jr. and the Doctors and staff at St. Joseph's Hospital. Memorial Services for Roy Tilley will be held in the Chapel at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs, Ark. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010 at 10 a.m.. Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 at Caruth Hale Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at White County Memorial Gardens in Searcy, Ark. at 3 p.m., Tuesday Sept., 14, 2010. Arrangements are by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.
