Helen Lipke

Helen Lipke of Hot Springs Village died on Sept. 10 at age 92. Born Helen Martin, she grew up in Chicago, where she met and married George Lipke. The couple recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, surrounded by their loving family. Helen had a gift for friendship. She enjoyed making new friends when she and George moved to Hot Springs Village nearly 30 years ago, but kept strong ties to old friends. She closely followed events in the lives of her large family. Besides her husband, Helen's survivors include children Diane Swan of Alexandria, Va., Jay Lipke of Little Rock, Susan Calloway of Washington, D.C., and Laura Joseph of Springdale, Ark., 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, P.O. Box 29001, Hot Springs, Ark., 71913. The family would like to thank Dr. Martin Koehn and the staff of Arkansas Hospice at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital for their wonderful, comforting care. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, Sept. 15, between 3 and 5 at the Caruth Village Funeral Home, 4623 North Highway 7, Hot Springs Village.
