Virginia Pratt Weaver

Virginia Pratt Weaver, age 83, of Malvern, died Thursday, September 16, 2010 in St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born in Strong, Arkansas on May 18, 1927 to the late Schuyler T. and Eva Dean McMath Pratt. Reared and receiving her early education in Strong, she graduated from Henderson State Teachers College in 1948. A resident of Malvern since 1952, she was the widow of the late William L. Weaver, to whom she was married on February 15, 1950 in the Little Country Church in Hollywood, California. He preceded her in death in 1982. Virginia worked with her husband in their insurance agency for many years. After his death she held a seat on the Board of Directors at Malvern National Bank for over 25 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and its Friendship Sunday School Class, and was also active in United Methodist Women. Virginia was a member and past president of Chapter B.C. of the P.E.O. Sisterhood; had served as president of the local PTA; was past president of the Green Thumb Garden Club, having won ribbons on both local and state levels, and was a member of the Hot Spring County Democratic Central Committee. She is survived by two daughters, Becky and her husband Roger Sanders of Little Rock, and Jo and her husband Marc McCain of Arkadelphia; by two sisters, Ruby Glo Walker of El Dorado and Florice Mouton of San Antonio, Texas; by a brother, Gerald Pratt of Sugarland, Texas; by three sisters-in-law, Hannah Sue Weaver of Malvern, Othel Pratt of San Luis Obispo, California, and Shelby Pratt of Bernice, Louisiana; and by five grandchildren, William Scott Sanders, Paul Benjamin Sanders, Stuart Roger Sanders, Eve Catherine McCain, and Benjamin Joseph McCain. Virginia was also preceded in death by a brother, Grady Pratt, and a sister, Patricia Jenkins. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m., Saturday afternoon, September 18, 2010 in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Reverend LaVon Post officiating. Interment will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Roger Sanders, Scott Sanders, Paul Sanders, Stuart Sanders, Ben McCain, and Marc McCain. The family will receive friends at J.A. Funk Funeral Home on Friday afternoon from 5 until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Malvern/Hot Spring County Library.
