ROBERT E. LONG, 86, of Little Rock went to be with his Lord on Sept. 16, 2010. He was born in Westport, Conn., to Dr. Roy and Minnie Long on Jan. 1, 1924. He grew up in Fayetteville, Ark. He was a member of Green Memorial Baptist Church. After attending U of A, he entered the Air Force. Robert was a 32nd degree Mason with Masonic Lodge #694 and a member of the Scottish Rite. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone and was a retired major in the U.S. Air Force. Robert is predeceased by his parents; his sister, Virginia Richards; and his brother, William Long. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Coleman Long, of 55 years; his daughters, Dr. Cynthia Long and Kimberly McElroy, both of Texas; and the light of his life, his granddaughters, Jennifer and Sarah McElroy and Christina Long. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Eugenia Duncan and Virginia Reese of Texarkana, Ark.; his four nieces and four nephews. Chapel services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home with burial to follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
