George Wimberly Minor

George Wimberly Minor, 85, of Dumas, Arkansas, died on July 31, 2011. He was born on June 30, 1926 in Frog Level, (Sevier County) Arkansas the son of the late, Francis Wimberly Minor and Iona Hestel Leverett Minor. Mr. Minor was a member of First Baptist Church, member of American Legion and VFW; he served in the United States Navy during World War, II and was a retired farmer. His wife of 25 years, Delois Ella Robertson Minor and second wife Shirley Patton Minor, three brothers, Gordon, Junior and Doc Minor, two great-grandchildren Jackson and Kenlee Gilbert also preceded him in death. Survivors are daughters, Glenda (Gary) Oden of Camden, Arkansas and Judy (Nick) Akins of Fort Smith, Arkansas, sister, Velva Dean Robertson of Dumas, Arkansas, six grandchildren Greg (Lisa) Oden, Angie (Kenneth) Gilbert, Lance (Khristy) Oden, Nicholas (Meredith) Akins, Michael Akins and Jonathan Akins, five great-grandchildren, Garrett, Jacob, Luke and Ella Oden, Abby Williams and Kaylin Akins. Visitation held from 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2011, Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. Services held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2011, Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marck Gibson officiating. Private burial will be at Walnut Lake Cemetery, Dumas, Arkansas. Memorials in his memory may be to Peachtree Hospice, Fort Smith, Arkansas or Desha County Museum, Dumas, Arkansas. Arrangements Griffin Funeral Home, Dumas, Arkansas.
