George Edward "Ed" Talbert

George Edward "Ed" Talbert, 86, of Benton, Arkansas died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Saline Memorial Hospice in Bryant. He was born August 24, 1924 to Walter Edward and Bertha Inez (Sorrells) Talbert. He retired from Southwestern Bell telephone company in 1986 after 39 years of service. He was a member of Lifeline Baptist Church, The Gideons International, and was a Mason. He was a Navy veteran having served in WWII and the Korean War; sailing around the world twice. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Talbert, originally of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his first wife Norma Jean (Smith) Talbert the mother of his children Kathleen Jennings and David of Monticello; Jimmy Talbert of Little Rock; David Talbert and Dixie of Jacksonville; Jeanine Hendrix and Randy of Sheridan; and Mark Talbert of Benton. He is also survived by two sisters Melvadeen Friday of Blytheville; Inez Hathaway of Fort Smith; one brother Lawrence Talbert of Chandler, Texas; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorials can be made to Lifeline Baptist Church, The Gideon's International or Saline Memorial Hospice. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Lifeline Baptist Church directed by Brother Jeff Dial and Mr. Talbert's son, Brother David Talbert.
