Robert Lewis "Shorty" Gillis

Robert Lewis "Shorty" Gillis, age 86, of Benton died Thursday, August 4, 2011. He was born November 19, 1924 in Grant County, Arkansas. Robert was owner and operator of Gillis Used Cars and Salvage, a US Navy Veteran and a member of Parkview United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Velma Gillis. Survivors, wife, Norma Gillis, Benton; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Layna Gillis, Benton; daughter and son-in-law, Nicki and Sam McCallie, Morrilton; brother and sister-in-law, J.R. and Patsy Gillis, Sheridan; four grandchildren, Clay McCallie, Keith Chalupa, Sammie Beene, and Troy Hudson, nine great-grandchildren, step-son Darron Coffman, Benton; step-daughter, Lisa Baker and husband Mark, Benton. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Jones Palestine Cemetery in Grant County. Ministers will be Bro. Clyde Chenault and Bro. Bob Warford.
