Inez "Marie" Levisee Hicks was born March 10, 1935 in Malvern and died August 2, 2011 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Marie was a cheerleader, a good "National Guard" Wife, a successful businesswoman, a wonderful sister, mother and grandmother, a compassionate friend and a long time member of Amboy United Methodist Church. Marie was a 1954 graduate of Malvern High School where she was a cheerleader and won awards for public speaking. For 56 years 11 months, Marie was married to Stanley Dean Hicks. She lovingly supported his career with the Arkansas Army National Guard for 43 years and received many awards from the guard including N.C.O. Spouse of the year award in 1985. Marie's Dream Cakes and Bride's Dream Florist were the successful businesses Marie operated for many years. She made beautiful, delicious cakes, catered many events and directed hundreds of weddings. Marie was a wonderful, nurturing and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Marie's inclusive nature lead many people, other than just her biological children, to call her Grandmommy or Aunt Marie. Marie is survived by her husband, Stanley Dean Hicks; her sisters, Janet Cameron and Sandra "Tootie" Ross; her daughters; Carol Ann Hicks and her husband Ed Knowlton, Patricia Jan Hicks Madell and her husband, Mike; Cynthea Nan Hicks and Karen Thompson. Grandchildren include Elizabeth Marie Dulong Scott and her husband Jimmy; Kristen Maness, her husband Sean and their son Ronan; Daniel C. Ridling; Hobbs Hicks Knowlton, Tiffany Pierskalla and her husband Jan, Nicole Paladino, Deanna Lewis and Kyla, Kimberely Price, Kevin Knowlton, Kris Knowlton and his wife Michelle, Krystal Lockart and her husband Chris and many other loving family and friends whom she considered part of her family. Memorials may be made to Amboy United Methodist Church Stained Glass Fund, 311 Military Drive, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118. Visitation will be held at the North Little Rock Funeral Home on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the North Little Rock Funeral Home on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland, Sherwood, Arkansas.
