Carl Dene Medlock

Carl Dene Medlock, age 83, of Cave City died Friday August 5, 2011 in Batesville. He was born April 29, 1928 in Cave City to Corbett E. and Myrtle Himes Medlock. He was the retired owner of Cave Oil Company, a former member of the Cave City School Board for 10 years, an avid gardner, enjoyed woodworking, and was a fan of all sports, especially the Razorbacks. He was of the Methodist faith. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nina Morgan Medlock of Cave City; one son, Dr.Rickey Medlock of Little Rock; one daughter, Sue Coles of Cave City; two grandchildren, Todd Coles and Jill Varner, both of Batesville; and three great-grandchildren, Casey Coles, Ryan Coles, and Sara Varner. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. at the Cave City United Methodist Church with Brother Roger Hooker officiating. Burial will follow in the Cave City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at the Cave City United Methodist Church. Pallbearers are Steve Felts, Randy Nash, John David Morgan, Scott Stalker, Birdie Rogers, Charles Ray Stipe, Jimmy Stipe, Daniel Stipe, and Bill Stipe. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Penn, O.J. "Folksy" Laman, Carthel McSpadden, Dr. Robert Walton, and Dr. J.D. Allen.
