Elfreda Faye Johnston

ELFREDA FAYE JOHNSTON, daughter of Elmer and Pearl Kennedy, born in Quitman, Ark., on July 11, 1933, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 5, 2011, at the age of 78. She was a lifelong member of Faith Baptist Church in North Little Rock and worked as a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital for 25 years. Elfreda enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. God blessed her with a very loving heart and giving hand. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Carl Johnston; her parents, Elmer and Pearl Swaffar Kennedy; and three sisters, Wanda Sue, Audra, and Edith. Survivors include her sons, Michael Johnston and wife, Cheryl, and Dr. Alan Johnston, all of North Little Rock; grandchildren, Dustin and wife, Andrea; Walter, Daley, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Riley and Alex; and sisters, Muriel Pierce, Carolyn (M.A.) Peedin, Linda (Bobby) New, and Donna (Eddie) Bogle. Visitations will be Monday, Aug. 8, at Olmstead Funeral Home, Heber Springs, from 12-3 p.m. and at Faith Baptist Church, 109 Tanglewood Drive, North Little Rock, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Faith Baptist Church on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Freddie Holmes officiating. Graveside services will follow at Goodloe Cemetery in Quitman. www.olmstead.cc.
