Wynona J. Mitchell

Wynona J. Mitchell, age 83, of White Hall, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Mitchell was born Dec. 1, 1927, in Cabanal, Ark., a daughter of the Wilburn Ray and Dorcas McKinney Jackson. She was reared and received her early education in Berryville and Greenland, graduating from Greenland High School. She was a resident of Fayetteville from 1942 to 1953, at which time she moved to Pine Bluff. She entered the Davis School of Nursing and graduated in 1957, with a LPN degree. She began working at the Davis Hospital in Pine Bluff and when the Jefferson Regional Medical opened, she began working there and retired in 1972, after 15 years of service. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Sixth Street Church of Christ and AARP (American Association of Retired People). Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death in 1994 by her husband, Lawrence C. Mitchell, whom she married Oct. 16, 1952. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara M. and Larry G. Rushing of White Hall. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the Moore Freewill Baptist Church in Berryville by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Doug Harris officiating. Burial will be in Moore Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson's Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, 909 West 2nd St., Little Rock, Ark., 72203.
