Wanda Jean Hampton Smith

Mrs. Wanda Jean Hampton Smith, 59, of Hazen passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 in Little Rock. She was born in Pine Bluff to James and Marzell Hampton. She graduated from Merrill High School in 1970 and a 1988 cum laude graduate of UAPB where she was Miss UAPB Alumni 1989-90. She was employed at UAPB for 16 years. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Edward Smith of 20 years; daughters, Lanika McClinton and Kristie McClinton both of Prosper, Texas; stepchildren, Tracy Buchanan and Vince Smith of Hazen; five brothers; four sisters; and seven grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Jimmy Fisher Sr. at 12 noon. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veteran Cemetery in North Little Rock by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at funeral home. Body will lie in state on Wednesday from 11:15 a.m. until service time. The family will be at 1600 South Utah St., Pine Bluff.
