Allene Lucille Power Scott

Allene Lucille Power Scott, 73, of Rockport passed away Sunday August 7, 2011 at her home. She was born May 1, 1935 to Dr. Allyn R. and Lucille E. Power in Cincinnati, Ohio. Allene graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1953. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Henderson State University in 1957. Allene was a member of Liberty Chapel in Rockport. She was a teacher for more than 30 years in the Hot Springs School District and she also worked with Head Start of Malvern. Through her years in education she had a special way of touching the hearts of her students. Allene was an avid animal lover and horsewoman and remained a part of the horse riding community for over 60 years. In earlier years she was a champion barrel racer and won many titles and awards. She was a member of the Arkansas Humane Society, Arkansas Barrel Racing Association, Arkansas Teacher's Association and National Education Association. She is preceded in death by her mother and father. Allene is survived by her beloved and devoted husband; Donald A. Scott of more than 30 years, two daughters; Gae (Dr. Abdalla) Tahiri of Little Rock, and Dana (Allen) Scott Bailey of Malvern, five grandchildren; Monica (Brad) Wilson of Two Harbors, Minn., Amanda (Neil) Mitchell of Maumelle, Ark., Tyler James Scott of Malvern, Alayna Leigh Scott of Malvern, and Adam Kenneth Barron of Little Rock. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malvern. Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m., Friday also at Atkinson Chapel with Interment to follow at Rockport Memorial Gardens. Immediately following burial there will be a reception at Liberty Chapel Fellowship Hall. Pallbearers: Allen Bailey, Dr. Abdalla Tahiri, Neil Mitchell and Steve Adams Officiated by: Bro.
