Billie Cline Galloway, 88, of North Little Rock died peacefully at home on August 7, 2011. She was born in Alix, Arkansas to John and Grace Cline. Billie was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Fred Galloway. She is survived five children; daughter Barbara Maloney and her husband Patrick of Little Rock; daughter Patricia Graham and her husband Rick of Bedford, Texas; daughter Leslie Peresta of Fort Smith, Arkansas; son Guy Galloway and wife Angel of North Little Rock, Arkansas; and son Curtis Galloway of Santa Cruz, California; as well as nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Billie moved to Clarksville with the Cline family in 1929, where her father, John, established his machine and welding shop. This shop left an unusual family legacy-the seedbed for Arkansas' most "high tech" industry of the 1980s. Her father patented numerous inventions from barrel staving machines and mining equipment to contracted defense work in World War II. He used his remarkable mechanical and analytical skills to help customers solve complex engineering problems. In her own right, Billie helped her family solve problems in many ways She was an intelligent, kind and loving model for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had many gifts to share with others, including her razor-sharp wit, her creative and delicious recipes, and her love of life. She was selflessly devoted to her husband and family, who always came first. Her voracious appetite for reading fed her penchant for crossword puzzles. Her greatest passion besides her family was the game of bridge. An accomplished player, she took pride in her tactical abilities. She also loves her friends who sustained her as well when the road became rocky. The matriarch of the Galloway clan will always be remembered with great love and will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Lakewood Methodist Church on Friday August 12, 2011. Arrangements made by Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400). Memorial contributions can be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or American Heart Association. Online guestbook www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/owens.
