Irene Harkleroad

Irene Harkleroad, 92 of North Little Rock, died Sunday, August 7, 2011. She was born to the late Robert Etheridge Womack and Elsie Anne Bowen Womack in Belleville, Arkansas on April 16, 1919. Irene was a member of First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock, where she sang in the choir. She worked for McGeorge Contracting Company for 30-plus years as an administrative assistant. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Vaden E. Harkleroad; and her sister, Marguerite Mansfield. She is survived by 2 daughters, Carolyn Johnson (Richard), and Janet Stewart (Michael), all of Little Rock; 3 grandchildren, Sergio Valdez, Christopher Stewart, and Eric Stewart; 2 brothers, Burl Womack of Savannah, Georgia, and Kermit Womack of Rogers, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at First United Methodist Church in North Little Rock. Interment will be at National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
