Joan Kenney
Joan Kenney, 88, of Little Rock, passed away Friday, August 5, 2011. She was born October 7, 1922 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Clarence and Pauline Bennett. She graduated from Little Rock High School. In 1942 she married Homer, her high school sweetheart. He enlisted in the Army and was soon sailing to Europe and World War II. Joan worked at Fones Brothers as a secretary while he was away. Later she became the mother of three children. Joan was active in P.T.A., the C.P.A. wives club and the women's circle at the Methodist Church. She enjoyed golf and traveling to tournaments. She liked playing bridge with friends and working crossword puzzles in record time. Her loving and kind heart was a gift to her children that will forever be cherished.
Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Homer; her parents; a sister, Sammy Buls; and her brothers Meredith Cravens and John Hal Bennett. She is survived by her son, Don Kenney; daughters, Susan Moranda (Steve) of St. Augustine, Florida and Janice Rosevear (Bill) of Chester, Virginia; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Scott, Jeffrey, and Robert; and five great-grandchildren with whom she treasured spending her summers.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2011 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home (501) 224-8300, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
