Joe C. Gibbbins

Joe C. Gibbins entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with malignant melanoma. The son of the late E. E. and Luvesta Henderson Gibbins, Joe was born May 3, 1941 in Union City, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jeffrey M. Gibbins, and a brother, Ulyes F. Gibbins. Joe was a devout member of the Church of Christ. He worshipped with the Somers Avenue Church, North Little Rock, AR. He worked his entire career in the household and mortgage finance business, retiring in 2006 from Origen Financial Services. He leaves his wife of 41 years, Katie Gilreath Gibbins and a son, Jon C. Gibbins (Teresita). He is also survived by two brothers, Van Gibbins (Jewel Marie) and Lynn Gibbins (Judy); sisters-in-law, Louise Gibbins, Fonda Peterson, and Nancy Reedy Zeller (Harold); grandchildren, Joshua and Justin Gibbins; special great children, Sydnie Reedy, Nathan Reedy and Taylor Hill. He leaves a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved deeply; and a foster daughter, Jessica Morey. A sincere thanks to Dr. Lawrence Mendlesohn and the North Little Rock chemo staff, and to Dr. Laura Hutchins, Karen Mack and Ron Haggert, his cancer treatment team at UAMS, who have been a special and caring part of Joe's life. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m., on Friday, July 12, 2011 at Somers Avenue Church in North Little Rock, Ark.
