Jacob Benjamin Caruthers, age 84 of Little Rock, Arkansas formerly of Memphis, Tennessee, died Tuesday, August 9, 2011. He was born on October 12, 1926 in Crueger, Mississippi to his late parents the Reverend Jacob B. Caruthers and Ruth N. Gayden. Jacob was retired from the United States Army having served in Vietnam and was a translator for the United States Army speaking both Vietnamese and French. In addition, Jacob loved to play the piano, read bible scriptures and loved the Lord with all his heart. Survivors include his five children, Angelic Brown (Carl) of Maumelle, Ark., Ameria Jones (Ahbrae) of Little Rock, Ark., Anthony Caruthers of North Little Rock, Ark., Emanuel Caruthers and Denice Cade (Micaiah) of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Mary Christine Morton of Detroit, Mich.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Erone Caruthers, one sister, Janie Alexander and one son, Benjamin Caruthers. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark. (501) 661-9111 with Reverend James Crockett and Reverend Ken Banks officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock with full Military Honors.
