Francis Louise Smith

Francis Louise Sims Smith, age 81, of Wye Mountain, Ark. passed away on Aug. 11, 2011, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born on Jan. 22, 1930 in Wabbaseka, Ark., and was the daughter of Forest Monro and Linnie Francis Carr Sims. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, a person who was always quick to bring a smile to the face of others with her stories of growing up and raising her son and helping to raise nieces and nephews. She was always very patient with children, seeing them through their childhood trials and tribulations. She will be remembered as being very unselfish, as she received her joy in helping others. She spent her childhood in Wabbaseka, Ark., where she graduated from Willie K. Hocker High School in 1949. She is remembered as a military wife and having owned and operated Smith Corner Grocery in Jacksonville, Ark., with her late husband, Sgt. Raymond R. Smith, Ret. U.S. Army. Following the death of her husband, she worked for Fuller & Son's Hardware until retirement. Her early career was consumed as a waitress in several Little Rock restaurants, and she later owned her own restaurant in Jacksonville, Ark. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Mildred Malone of Stuttgart, Lois Dardenne of Pine Bluff, Lena Davis of Jacksonville, and her brother C.D. Sims of Hot Springs. She is survived by her sisters, Viola Cox of Wye Mountain and Jean Rousse of Houma, La., and her son, Larry Ray Smith and his wife Carrie of Wye Mountain; his daughter, Gena Lynn; his son, Jeremy; his grandchild, Mark; a host of nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2011 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home in Jacksonville with Bro. Don Rascoe officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
