Paul Bernard DeSalvo, 68, of Ward, died Monday, August 15, 2011. He was born March 21, 1943, in Morrilton, Arkansas, and was the second son to the late John A. and Mary Edith Harrison DeSalvo. Paul was a truck driver for most of his life, starting at the young age of 16. He learned to fly an airplane and flew air mail from Little Rock to Memphis, everyday for several years. He later drove a water truck to help build highway 167 from Little Rock to Jacksonville, he got his CDL and drove tankers hauling gas, and then he drove trucks for Kroger for many years. Paul met his wife, Edith at the nursing home where his mother lived. They married on October 3, 1993 and then moved from Jacksonville to Cabot. They later moved from Cabot to Ward, where they have lived for the past ten years. Paul was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church and a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Johnny DeSalvo and a sister, Charlotte Watson. Paul is survived by his wife, Edith DeSalvo, three children, Sherry Mahan and her husband, Steve from DeValls Bluff, Bruce Allen and his wife, Trish from Ward, and Joseph Allen and his wife, Marie from Austin, one sister, Pamela Maron and her husband, Bob from Conway and a brother, Steve DeSalvo, from Dallas, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 16, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. at St. Jude's Catholic Church, with a Rosary service following at 7 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at St. Jude's Catholic Church, with Father Andy Smith officiating.
