Mary Etta Madden

Mrs. Mary Etta (Grady) Madden of Little Rock departed this life on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at the age of 77. She was born December 9, 1933, in Beedeville, Arkansas, to John Calvin and Margaret Frances (Beede) Grady. She married Joe Elza Madden on June 7, 1957. Since 1962, her home has been in Little Rock. After graduating from Harding College, Mrs. Madden enjoyed careers as a teacher, homemaker, editorial assistant for Rose Publishing Company, and farm manager. She was an active and dedicated member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. Mrs. Madden's greatest love and enjoyment in life was spending time with her family and large circle of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 29, 1995. She is survived by a sister, Maxine Grady Shepherd and her husband Doug Shepherd, of Centerville, Tennessee; six children and their families: Kathleen Madden Henriksson and partner William "Pat" Kinser of Apalachicola, Florida; Joe E. Madden, Jr. of Little Rock, Arkansas; Etta M. Madden and husband Neil P. Guion of Springfield, Missouri; Mary E. Madden and husband Gary A. Thompson of State College, Pennsylvania; John K. Madden and wife, Oxana Turcanu Madden of Zagreb, Croatia; Annette Madden-Kline and husband, Doug Kline of Darien, Connecticut; 11 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, Friday, August 19, 2011, 6 to 8 p.m. and funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock. Committal Service will be 3 p.m., Saturday at the Walker-Madden Family Cemetery, Cow Lake Community, Beedeville, Arkansas.
