Warren G. Story, 84, departed this world on Aug. 18, 2011. He was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Clinton, Ark., to the late Eugene and Birdia Story. Warren married DeLane Hammett in 1951. Soon they embarked on an Alaskan adventure that lasted 40 years. Warren provided a wonderful home for his family in Fairbanks. He was an avid outdoorsman and many fond memories were created during sheep hunts and fishing trips in Alaska. Warren was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and served his country during World War II and the Korean War. Warren's work ethic, sense of humor and positive outlook served him well throughout his life. Warren worked in construction and was a member of the Carpenter's Union Local 1243. In 1993, Warren and DeLane returned to their roots and retired to their cattle ranch in Arkansas. Warren is survived by DeLane, his wife of sixty years; children David Story, Paula Ashbridge, Reedy Story, and Lisa Lewis; ten grandchildren and four great-grand sons; three sisters Winnie Williams, Jewell Thompson and Avon Crawford; numerous nieces and nephews; and Warren's devoted caregiver of three years, Pam Carpenter. He is preceded in death by his sister Minnie Moore, brothers France, Tom, Finis, Elmo, Virgil and Jim Story. Pallbearers are David Story, Reedy Story, James Story, Roy Story, Bruce Williams, and Brett Williams. Interment will be at Union Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel Clinton, Ark. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at Formosa Church of Christ with Julian Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery Formosa Community.
