Gary Lee Caldwell

Gary Lee Caldwell, 55, of Salem, Ark., was born on March 29, 1956, in Louisville, Ky., the son of Nolen Baker and Deon (Baird) Caldwell. He departed this life on Aug. 18, 2011, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo. Gary was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Ward on Oct. 7, 1998, at Orem, Utah. He was a retired Utah State Trooper and was currently working as an investigator for the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. Gary was a member of the Ash Flat Branch Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his son Jacob Caldwell and his parents. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Caldwell of Salem; six sons, Robert Caldwell (Rebecca) of Salem, Ore., Lee Caldwell (Emily) of Ft. Bragg, N.C., Casey Caldwell of Ft. Bragg, N.C., Brady Hansen (Jenny) of Lehi, Utah, Nicholas Hansen of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mathew Hansen of Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Katelin Caldwell of American Fork, Utah, and Rebecca Smith (Sterling) of Vernal, Utah; two brothers, William B. Caldwell (Jennifer) of Swifton, Ark., and Terry Hendershott of Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Debra Haskin of Sherwood, Ark., Patti Groves of Floyd Knob, Ind., and Barbara Anderson of Laguna Hills, Calif.; two grandchildren, Adalyn Hansen of Lehi, Utah, and Aryean Caldwell of Salem, Ore.; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, 4 p.m., at the Ash Flat Branch Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints with President Daniel Ochoa officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the American Fork City Cemetery, American Fork, Utah, under the direction of Anderson and Son Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Jay Haskin, Kenneth (Buck) Foley, Albert Roork, Donnie Foster, Shaun Vincent, James Cantrell and Daniel Busch. Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 22, 6-8 p.m., at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Ark. Memorials preferred to Honoring Heroes Foundation, 4501 S 2700 W, West Valley City, Utah, 84119.
