Von H. Dent formerly of Heber Springs, Ark. died August 20, 2011. It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Father. Mr. Dent was born Nov. 7, 1922 in Imboden, Ark. and was raised in Marked Tree, Ark. He married Dorthia A. Ezell on Dec. 29, 1947. Mr. Dent served his country for 28 years and was a veteran of three foreign wars, WWII, Korea, Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force he worked as a Shelby County Deputy Sheriff for a brief period and then he was then employed as a Postal Police Officer with the U.S. Post Office. He was a member of the Gosnell, Arkansas Baptist Church and in addition is a life member of Okinawa Masonic Lodge #118, the Scimator Shrine Center and the Scottish Rite and NRA in Little Rock, Ark. Von was the last member of his family of eight. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorthia Ezell Dent and is survived by daughters, Glenda Avery (Kelley), Paula Bethany (R.C.), Debra Sullivan (Brooks), and son, Michael Dent (Pat); granddaughter, Tonya Gray-Paul (Aaron), as well as ten grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was adored by his family who loved him devotedly. Von graced our life with his free wheeling manner and will be missed. Memorial contributions in Von's memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital Burn Center.  Visitation will be 12-2 p.m., Wednesday with the service to follow at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill East Funeral Home.
