THELMA SMITH, 82 of Mabelvale, slipped away peacefully on Aug. 26, 2011, at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock after a battle with Alzheimer's disease and complications from a stroke. Thelma was born on Sept. 12, 1928, in Pearson, Ark.; she was the daughter of Robert Rushin and Lillie Adcox-Rushin. Thelma was a retired bookkeeper & tax preparer who enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, and deer hunting. She is preceded in death by her parents, a stepson, Andy Smith, brother Stanley Rushin, and a sister, Christine Underwood. Survivors include her husband Morris D. Smith of Mabelvale; children Shirley Ironside and her husband Larry, of Mabelvale; Linda Long of Conway; Brenda Stroud of Little Rock; stepchildren Myron Smith of Hensley, Mark Smith of Hensley, Dean Smith of Mabelvale; a brother, Robert Rushin, of Nimrod; grandchildren Paul McAllister and wife Tammie, Mark Long and wife Jennifer, Chris Runnells and wife Nikki, Paula Kaye Duncan, Drew Smith, Misty Carmona and husband Michael, Andrea Smith, Maiken Smith, Sydne Smith and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at Huson Funeral Home Chapel at 6400 Mabelvale Pike, Little Rock, Ark., (one block west of 65th & University), burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Alexander.
