Billy J. Jones

BILLY J. JONES, 76, of Maumelle, Ark., passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011. He was born Nov. 3, 1934 in Memphis, Tenn., to John W. and Sallie Beibers Jones. Bill was a wonderful and much loved husband and father, and will be greatly missed. He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with all six of his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and woodworking; was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Maumelle, and formerly Lebanon Baptist Church of Ripley, Miss. He served his country for over 36 years, having retired from the Air Force after 20 years, and then he worked for the Veterans Administration Office in Little Rock. Cherishing his memory are his wife of 54 years, Margaret Mendenhall Jones; three daughters, Cyndy Lowery, Brenda Putman, and Janie Jo Smith; six grandchildren, Jonathan McDonald, Chris McDonald, Gaby Kuhl, Erica Smith, Joel Putman, and Jenny Putman. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011 in the chapel of Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock (501)835-3515 with Rev. Johnny Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
