Sister Vivian Luyet

Lee and Eugenia Moix Luyet welcomed their daughter, Lucille Mary, on August 23, 1918 in Conway, Ark. Lucille Mary entered St. Scholastica Convent September 30, 1934 and received the name of Sister Vivian when she became a novice. She made her first profession of religious promises on June 24, 1937. After teaching elementary grades for 55 years in McGehee, Prairie View, Scranton, Subiaco and Fort Smith in Arkansas and two years in Missouri, she was assigned administrator of St. Joseph's Home in North Little Rock. She retired to St. Scholastica Monastery in 2007. One of her last assignments was the Gift Shop helpers. She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Catherine Dumboski, Christine Massery, Mary Freyaldenhoven, and Monica Hamling; eight brothers, Maurice, Emil, Leo, Paul, George, Albert, Joseph and Eugene. She is survived by nieces and nephews and her religious family. Pallbearers will be Raymond Luyet, George Luyet, James Luyet, Eugene Luyet, Robert Dumboski, Charles Hamling, and Elmer Freyaldenhoven, Vespers for the dead will be December 2, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the Monastery Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be December 3 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Gregory Luyet, a great-nephew, as presider. Burial will be in the Monastery cemetery.
