Sandra Floyd of Searcy, gracefully passed away at Baptist Hospital, Little Rock, Arkansas on December 4, 2011. She was born October 5, 1940 in Rusk, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Marie Harrison. She lived a bountiful life serving family and God. At 17 years of age she married her high school sweetheart, Billy Roy Floyd, who also preceded her in death. They celebrated 48 years of life together. Billy and Sandra had three children, Tina, Ricky, and Randy. Sandra's life example of stability led each of her children to currently be married for 29 years (Tina to Robert Hudgins), 27 years (Ricky to Kim Stark), and 23 years (Randy to Lu Anne Graves). Each of these couples have three children, giving Sandra nine grandchildren, Christina Hudgins, Scott Hudgins, Michael Hudgins, Audra Wray (and husband Kyle), Austin Floyd, Abby Floyd, Madeline Floyd, Jacob Floyd, and Joshua Floyd; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Russ Harrison and his wife Sherry. Sandra was a magnificent support for Billy's career with Coca-Cola. With her talent, she made homes for them in Searcy, North Little Rock, and Shreveport. And yes it is true; behind every good man is a wonderful woman. "Family first!" We heard Sandra say this many times, she valued the importance of her children and grandchildren succeeding. Sandra had a passion for perfecting her skills in cooking and interior design. Family get-togethers were held often, and every family member enjoyed the feast she provided. She took pleasure and was gifted in keeping her flower garden beautiful, and appreciated all aspects of nature itself. Sandra cherished spending a lot of time with her grandchildren, and was committed to taking the boys on a fishing trip every year. She also loved music, and embraced playing the piano and organ. Family, friends, and church have enjoyed her musical talents. Sandra had a drive to always move forward and embrace life. She was an example for her kids and grandchildren. After losing her husband of 48 years, she became a black belt in bridge, played golf, and developed deep friendships of other widows with whom she traveled and had many adventures. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 6 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Searcy with Brother David Crouch and Dr. Brian Whitney officiating. Private entombment will be at the mausoleum at the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
