Mary "Rosalea" Green

Mary "Rosalea" Green, 92, of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, joined her heavenly Father on Dec. 7, 2011 She was born October 7, 1919 in Dumas, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, William I. And Inez Meador Fish; her husband, William T. "Dub" Green; twin sister, Rosalyn Ballard of Little Rock, and two brothers, Rodney Fish of Dumas and Roy Fish of Junction City. She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Ricky Green and wife, (Karen) of Hot Springs, Arkansas and daughter, Marilyn Coy (Jack) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, grandchildren, Ricky Green Jr. (Sherry) and Keith Green (Tami), great-granddaughters, Haley Green, Hannah Green and Heidi Green and twins, Madison and McKinley Green, and many nieces and nephews. Rosalea grew up in Dumas, Arkansas. She and her twin sister, Rosalyn, had the distinction of being the first twins born in Dumas. She was a good student, serving as salutatorian along with her twin sister, Rosalyn, who was valedictorian of the senior class at Dumas High School. While in high school, she played basketball and participated in singing competitions with her sister and a cousin. She graduated from Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia, where she majored in English and music (voice). While in college, Rosalea and Rosalyn were chosen to represent Arkansas at a twin convention in Waco, Texas. Competing with over 100 sets of twins, they were named the "most identical" and also won a talent contest by singing. She met her husband, Dub, while at Henderson State, and they were married on November 28, 1942 while he was serving in the Army during WWII. Following the war, she and Dub made their home in Arkadelphia. She went into public school music and taught in Arkadelphia for 24 years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and for 62 years sang in the choir. Her favorite past times were playing bridge, eating Mexican food, and watching the Razorback football games. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Twin Rivers Health and Rehab for their compassionate care of Rosalea. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Saturday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia with Rev. Bob Langley and Rev. Carroll Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Delamar Cemetery, Manning, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Ricky Green Jr., Keith Green, Tom Mahoney, Ronnie Smith, Don Robert Thompson, and Jack Thompson. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Choir Fund.
