Marvell Mashburn, age 81, of Alexander, passed away Friday, December 16, 2011 at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. She was born on December 17, 1929 in Enola, Arkansas to the late Charles Ellis Woodward and Amber Woodward. She attended Humphrey High School. She was a charter member of Highway Church of Christ in Benton. She enjoyed taking trips with her late husband of over forty years, Bezell Mashburn and reading. She also enjoyed spending time with her dogs, Layla Mae, October, and Skylar. Mrs. Mashburn was on the boards of Care Link, the Saline County Council on Aging, where she served as secretary for over fifteen years, and was a member of the Silver Haired Legislature for two years. She was employed at UAMS for over thirty-six years and served as administrative assistant for over fifteen years at Arkansas Children's Hospital in the child abuse program which she helped establish. In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by her baby sister, Ollie Mae Woodward. Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Weindel and husband, Tom of Alexander; two granddaughters, Amber Weindel of the home and Brandy Ryder and husband Woody of Monroe, La.; three great-grandchildren, Hailey, Hope, and Julyan Ryder; three sisters, Margaret Morgan and husband, Al of Jacksonville, Sherrye Shipp and husband, Benny of Morrilton, and Martha Green and husband, Eddie of North Little Rock; one brother, Benny Woodward and wife, Vicki, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2011 at Highway Church of Christ in Benton with Minister Jerry Almond officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Burgess, Kenneth Weindel, Greg Dixon, James Hutchings, Roger Lawson, Dale Mashburn, Ronnie Green, and Chad Green. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Senior Activities Center and members of Highway Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 2–4 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047).
