Leona D. Crowly

Leona D. Crowly, age 90, of Searcy, formerly of Hazen, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 18, 2011. She was born on December 17, 1921 in Viola, Wisconsin, the daughter of Fred and Zoe Sutherland. Leona was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hazen for many years, where she and her family resided most of their lives, until they moved to Searcy where she and her husband joined Valley Baptist Church in 1993. Leona was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bill Crowly; her parents, and three brothers, Cecil, Kenneth, and Elmer Sutherland. Leona is survived by her daughter, Sandy Crowly White; three grandchildren, Melanie Morris of Searcy, Amanda Forest-Lam and husband, James of Suffolk, Virginia, and Jennifer Barnette of Rapid City, South Dakota; 10 great-grandchildren, Justin and Jordan Morris of Searcy, Britney White of Rapid City, South Dakota, Lindsey Gammill of Searcy, Christopher and Clover Forest-Lam of Suffolk, Virginia, Savanna, Clara, and Serenity Barnette of South Dakota; 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends who were like family. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Hazen. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hazen Cemetery. A special thanks is extended to Freda Godwin, her caretaker and friend and long-time friends, Ray and Beverly Wood and Virginia and Dick Moore who visited her many times while she was in Byrd Haven nursing home.
