Shirley R. Kennedy, 90, of Little Rock, passed away December 18, 2011 at Robinson Nursing Home in North Little Rock. She was born in Springfield, Missouri where she was raised, the youngest daughter of Brownlow and Ida Kennedy. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. After attending Southwest Missouri State College, Shirley worked for a time for Sports Illustrated magazine in Chicago during World War II. After the war, she moved to Little Rock. Her love for advertising and public relations led to a long and rewarding career with Cranford-Johnson-Robinson-Hunt & Associates, making many friends in the Little Rock media. She enjoyed many outdoor activities including bird watching and playing golf. Shirley was happiest spending time with her family and friends, and loved to travel with them to interesting places in the U.S. She is survived by her brother, John B. Kennedy and sister, Norma Freeman, both of North Little Rock and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be Thursday, December 22 at 11 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), followed by interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. The family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the service begins.
