Clayton Frederick Crary

Clayton Frederick Crary, age 71, of Amity, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011. He was born January 22, 1940 in Fargo, North Dakota, the eldest of three children, to Neil and Lois Nieswagg Crary. He was a member of Amity Second Baptist Church and a master mason of the Amity Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge. Clay was a U.S. Marine veteran and a avid hunter and fisherman belonging to several hunting clubs. Clay moved to Arkansas in the 70's and was involved with Carter Oil Co. in acquisition of land and mineral rights in Southern Arkansas. Clay was an insurance and real estate broker, establishing C.F. Crary and Associates in Arkadelphia, and served as a District Manager for Modern Woodman of America. Clay had many hobbies including racing, ham radio operator, pilot, musician, fishing guide, scuba diver and cattleman, always giving each endeavor his best effort and commitment. Survivors include his wife of f43 years, Cathern Clay Crary; two step-sons, Michael Smith of Conway, Ark., Bobby Smith of Amity, Ark.; two sisters, Casey (Kay) Crary Butler, Nancy Crary Jones both of Little Rock, Ark.; and one nephew, Clayton James (C.J.) Butler of Colorado. Memorial services will be 2 p.m.. Monday, December 26th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Bro. Derrick Bonds officiating.
