J B Rickman

J.B. Rickman, son of the late Noel and Birdie Rickman passed away December 25th, 2011 after a long illness he is survived by his wife of 58 years, (anniversary December 26th) Wanda Friend Rickman, son Keith Rickman, daughter-in-law Holly, two grandchildren Sara Rickman and Amanda Carbajol, brothers Jay, Raymond and Jerry Rickman and sisters Helen, Peggy, Martha and Janice and as well as his nephew Brad Rickman. Born near the small town of Ravenden Springs in North Arkansas in 1930 he was one of twelve children. He left Ravenden Springs at the age of seventeen and joined the Army Air Corp. in 1947. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars repairing B-52 bombers and as a military policeman. He was an avid sportsman and loved deer hunting with family and friends. He married Wanda Friend in 1953 and together they raised two sons Kenneth Rickman and Keith Rickman. He retired from the military service in 1967 and started a career as an insurance adjuster. He purchased the company, Wade Adjustment (formerly Knight Adjustment) that dates back to the 1940s, from Mr. Wade an attorney in 1974. He operated as a family business with his wife and two sons until the sudden passing of his son Kenneth Rickman in 1997. J.B. had a severe stroke in 2001, but continued working in the business until recent years. His son Keith still operates the business. A military service will be at graveside on Wednesday, December 28th, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park. Special thanks go out to Edna Thomas of Vilonia as his recent caretaker and the VA health care team who have provided exceptional care in recent years. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. While he lived a long and productive life, he will be sorely missed by friends and family.
